Do you ever feel like things are placed in front of you for a reason?

I have officially lived a long enough life that I have started noticing patterns. Lessons I didn’t learn the first time around have somehow come back into my life as a different scenario. Almost like giving me a second chance at doing the right thing, or choosing the correct path. (Which is kind of great because I never do anything right the first time around).

Well, this body of work that I have fondly come to call Fitteramics came out of that exact situation. A difficult time from my past felt like it was repeating itself. I felt like I was lost in a loop, not seeing the lesson I needed to understand. That event felt like a catalyst for me and a series of choices cascaded out of it. Situations that also felt all too familiar to my past, and started to help me understand that I needed to do things differently. I needed to acknowledge the things I didn’t do the first time around. For me, that was putting my health, my studio practice, and most importantly speaking up about what I need at the forefront of my life. Because if I don’t do these things I will never grow. I will always be stifled. The second I started to adjust those aspects of my life, this body of work exploded out of me. I was finally giving myself what I needed to grow, and before I knew it I had run out of shelf space for all my textured, fitteramic wares. Just as I was starting to out grow my studio a sign for a place to rent fell right into my lap. I was at the right place at the right time, and it felt like it was always meant to be mine. I just needed to finally make the right choices to get it.
